RAJUK Uttara Model College(RUMC) (Bengali: রাজউক উত্তরা মডেল কলেজ) is a co-educational Bangladeshi High school(Grade VI-XII) situated in Uttara, Dhaka about a Kilometre north from Shahjalal International Airport.
Established in 1994,RUMC has maintained a strong academic tradition and is one of the best colleges in the country.[1] Admissions are based on an entrance test and a viva-voce (oral examination). The school provides education to its students in both Bengali & English medium under the national curriculum. Students can get admitted into the institution in sixth, ninth and in eleventh grade. The school has nearly 2500 students and employs 156 teaching staff and 41 other staff.[2][3]

RAJUK Uttara Model College provides education to its students in the Secondary and Higher Secondary level in both Bengali and English medium under the national curriculum. The school authority is very strict in maintaining the quality of education and discipline. As a result students perform exceptionally well in both SSC (public examination taken by students after completing grade 10) and HSC (public examination taken by students after completing grade 12) examinations and also in Junior Scholarship Test (Government scholarship test for eighth graders). The school has an air conditioned library with more than 15000 volumes along with well equipped physics, chemistry, computer, biology, mathematics, geography labs for performing experiments & for better understanding of respective subjects. Potentially bright students are sent to participate in mathematics, physics, astronomy Olympiads.
RAJUK Uttara Model College follows the national curriculum. This curriculum includes traditional lower secondary, secondary and higher secondary school academic subjects. In addition computer education is compulsory for all the students of grades 6-8 while it's optional for later grades. Students of grades 6-8 can also take music, guitar lessons. Students of both secondary (9 & 10) and higher secondary (11 & 12) classes have to elect to one of three major groups : Arts/Humanities, Business Studies and Science. Students of grade 10 and 12 are prepared for their SSC & HSC examinations respectively. Selected students of grade 8 are also prepared for their Junior Scholarship Test (Government scholarship test for eighth graders).

The RUMC library is actively working. The library staff work very closely with classroom teachers. Library staffs help students in finding out the desired book. The College library has over 15,000 volumes. In addition to the material for studies, there is a good collection of fiction, non-fiction and periodicals. Four books may be checked out at a time and they may be kept for a maximum period of two weeks. The library is open during and after academic hours and remains open up to 5:30p.m. (summer) and 4:30p.m. (winter).
RAJUK Uttara Model College is governed by a governing body formed according to the guidance from the education authorities. The Secretary of ministry of Education is the Chairman of the Board of Governors. The chief of the administration of college is Principal while there is Vice Principal in each of the shifts (morning and day shifts). Currently the Principal is Brigadier General Golam Hossain Sirkar
RUMC has a quite iarge campus with an area of 4.5 acres (18,000 m2). RUMC campus consists of two inter connected buildings, a huge 2.5 acres (10,000 m2) sports ground and a pair of basketball courts. The first building & the second building are 5 stories and 8 stories high respectively. First 5 floors excluding the ground floor of both inter-connected buildings are used for academic purposes.The Central Hall, gymnasium , teachers' lounge, administrative offices are in the ground floor. The library, principal's office,biology lab, video lab, computer lab 1 are located in the 1st floor. 2nd floor has physics lab, internet lab, computer lab 2,3 and classrooms. 3rd floor consists of only classrooms. Chemistry lab and other classrooms are in the 4th floor. 5th floor of the second building is used as resident quarters for the principal and other staff. Dormitory for female students is also located in this floor. Dormitories for resident male students are in 6th & 7th floor. RUMC has its own powerful back-up generator to cope with power-cuts. The huge ground is used for playing cricket, football, badminton, handball etc.
As an exceptional educational institute Rajuk Uttara Model College puts special stress on co-curricular activities of the students. To explore the inner faculties of the participants and to help their body and mind develop harmoniously, a vigorous programme on co-curricular activities is being carried out along with the normal academic programmes round the year. There are as many as 26 clubs and societies. The program includes football, cricket, volleyball, handball and basketball. Special emphasis is being given on literary and cultural activities. To stir cultural awareness among the students, a yearly cultural week is observed with great zeal and enthusiasm by the students of the institution. The cultural week includes Hamd, Nat, Quirat, Debate, Recitation, Music, Drama, Story telling, Caricature etc. students in a large number participate in the said competitions.
Other clubs include stamp collection, drawing and painting, photography, gardening, pottery, band and junior cadet crops. Besides, a colorful wall paper reflecting the thoughts and ideas of budding talents is also brought out in each term.
The college organizes function on 21 February to observe the International Mother Language Day every year. It also holds programs on the occasion of Pohela Boishakh, Independence Day, Victory Day.
Following events are held regularly in RUMC.
RUMC has outdoor & indoor games facilities. Inter-class football, basketball, cricket, handball and other competitions are held regularly. Students participate in the games with much enthuisiasm. RUMC also has indoor games facilities. These include table tennis, carom, chess & word making . Boards needed for these indoor-games are placed in the college common room and hallways. The college also has a modern gymnasium for its students. It's equipped with sufficient exercise equipments and is located in the ground floor of the main academic building. It remains open from 7:30AM to 5:00PM on all working days of the week.
A lot of importance is given on teaching foreign languages to the students. Special emphasis is given on English so that each and every student can speak easily and fluently. The authority has also taken steps to appoint overseas English teachers as well as local teachers specialized in English. Special classes on spoken English and phonetics have been arranged to facilitate this particular program. Students desiring to sit for TOEFL and SAT examinations are provided necessary help and support from the college.
RUMC also provides internet connectivity to its students. RUMC is one of the few schools in Dhaka to do so. The college internet lab now has 15 computers with broadband internet connection. Students can browse the internet here during breaks & after academic hours. Students have to pay 10 BDT per hour for browsing.
RUMC annually publishes a magazine containing poems, articles, stories, science fictions, jokes and so on written by the students, teachers and staff. Anupranon (invigorating or inspiring in Bengali) is the name of the magazine. This magazine reflects the creativity and gives the opportunity to express the thoughts of the students.
